It's a very curious beast Arne. As you say there are some non standard parts on there. The elbow for the filter is very odd and that definitely isn't a part robbed from another scooter as far as I know. Like Wildcat I think the South American theory is the most plausible.

Not trying to upset you but how would you distinguish original paint from a bare metal "correct" respray carried out 2 years ago (long enough for the solvents to be well and truly gone).

You keep seeing posts saying that bikes are in original paint and others saying that their 43 year old engine has never had a spanner on it or been opened. I feel that the posters are mistaken. In 30 years time Viet bikes will be described as original innocenti "prototypes" or rare models.
