Agreed - stock to vforce is a big improvement. It really comes down to a much much crisper throttle response - that's what you'll notice the most.

The idea is that there are twice as much reed area as a traditional reed.

I spent Sunday fitting a V force 3 to Roy Hooper's TS1 (the machine I borrowed to ride to Sweden) and it was a really rewarding day in the workshop. The reed replaced the Yam reed that was fitted by John Balcombe in his Kegra days.

The inlet needed only the smallest of modifications to make it fit and we did no other work on the ports, except a little work down the trannies. I didn't alter any timings. One of the advantages of the V force is that it is not as tall, so the boost port is not at all obstructed by the reed. No spacer required. No offset cones.

We knew we had done the right thing as soon as we started the re-built engine. It instantly sounded good. Roy slapped his lid on and took it up the road. Within 100yards, the most spectacular hail-storm appeared from nowhere and he turned around and straight back into the workshop. :D

Eventually, we both had a ride on the machine in something approaching decent weather and we agreed that the reed had dramatically improved the engine pick-up. We packed up and Roy rode off. When he got home, he sent me a text. I quote: "I'm home. Poss over jetted, but so smooooooth! Thanx".

Roy is booked-in with JB for a Agusto on Monday. I reckon that by the time we have finished, we'll have one super-smooth TS1. I hope Roy keeps me on his insurance for 2009. :D
