how?....how do you redrill the correct centres from blind holes???

I havnt had an engine case, yet, where the stud holes were out of line.
But I don't use the steel oil seal plate either. I prefer the much out of fashion alloy oil seal plates, which seem to be pretty reliable if someone hasn't already beaten it out of shape.

Take a rubbing from the case and use it as a template.

I think you need a drive side bearing with a seal on it but remove one seal so that it still gets oil to it but still seals even if the plate is out of line

i think that it was thought that a sealed on one side bearing wouldnt allow gearbox oil to lubricate the drive side oil seal and was a bad idea

Wouldn`t this cause you to break through the casing to the sprocket side ? as where the screws go the casting is thickened up to allow for them.
