I am in the middle of fitting an Imola to my GP150, looking at the gear ratio it has a 46/15 = 5.65 with a 80 link chain, question is will this be ok or should I change the ratio. Haven't bought the carb or the exhaust but probably going with 30m and JL or Franspeed exhaust.
Cheers

Depends on your weight, whether your going 2 up,which JL you use etc etc.
I would suggest 5.2 final drive maybe 5.0.
Its a bit of a pain to get with a GP150 box as it means a 48t crownwheel.
If the gearbox is Italian you will find the Imola doesn't like the jump between 3rd and 4th. The higher you keep the ratio the less of a problem this will be.
Indian GP150 boxes have less of a jump between 3rd and 4th.

I ran mine at 5.7 for a year or so, it was a lot of fun. Now at 5.3 and don't think I'd want to go much lower. (Delly30 & JL3, one up plus rally gear). I'd try the 5.65 for a while, it should put a smile on your face!

Weel 17/48 gives you 5.2. Could work out expensive with crownwheel sprocket and chain. Or 5.0 is 17/46 so just a 81link chain and a front sprocket.
The new imolas are a lot torquier than the old ones so it should pull that.

Try what you've got first before altering anything, yes your ratio is a bit on the low side for long distance stuff but for around town it will be fun. Diablo mentioned the gap between 3rd & 4th but that gets worse if you lower the ratio ie raise the gearing so bear that in mind. Standard Gp 200 gearing of 5.22:1 would be ok OR Li 125 with16/47 , 81 link chain will give you 5.42:1 which is in between the GP200 and what you have now. However I'll say it again try what you have then work out what you want to do

My early Imola was fantastic with 5.3 -16 x 46 Pacemaker [or possibly 5.4 - 16 x 47 it was a few years ago  ], TMX27 and scootrs exhaust. Thought I could improve the top end with 5.0 [17 x 46] and Devtour but it killed the performance, headwinds and hills became 3rd gear which was never a problem previously.
