When i was British enduro champion or was it world can't remember the army lads told us about a project to fit a diesel engine into a kawasaki klr frame for dispatch riders.
It would save lots of money only having one fuel and the thick squaddies (their words) wouldn't put the wrong fuel in tanks, trucks and bikes

any thoughts on a diesel engined scooter, you could fit a generator engine

Didn't NATO bring in a "one fuel policy" and standardise on Diesel sometime in the early eighties? Hence the disposal of all those Alvis Stalwarts and the conversion of the Scimitars to diesel. I'm sure those Armstrong dispatch bikes are diesel.

It would make battle field logistics a lot simpler.

PS The new Royal Navy aircraft carries are electrically powered by Rolls Royce Trent jet engines. Means they can use the same fuel as the planes.

the army does operative a "one" fuel policy but some specialists use petrol as well, some small gennies still run petrol engines

my brother is a captain in the army (artillery) and they have binned the armstrong motorcycles in his unit, in favour of diesel quads, because they can pull a small trailer, and more people can use them. the plus point of this, is that the dispatch riders had to give their riding gear back to stores (which our kid monitored) and i ended up with a full Barbour International jacket and strides riding outfit! result! not your namby pamby fashion clobber, proper patched, scuffed, mud in pockets, "NATO RIDING JACKET, OLIVE MD 5558" gear.it"s a topper!

All RN Gas Turbines can use AVCAT ( Aviation Categorised fuel) Although the Main propulsion engines whether they are direct drive or powering generators for Electrical drives are marinised so that they run on F76 ( Diesel).

We should start an official over 60's club ie A true over 60mph+ for 60 miles before stopping
There's a few in our club who have joined.

Then there is the over 70s club ie A true 70mph+ for 70 miles
Only 1 or 2 done this

Then finally the ultimate the over 80s club ie A true 80mph+ for 80miles
