Mounted on the wrong side of the chain too. That must have been under some pressure :shock:

Seems like a clever design to me and I always thought that the chain ran backwards, if so this would work better. :?

I found one exactly like that in my kelvinator avanti engine. I thought it was just a clever bodge but it's exactly the same as yours.

this tensioner look like a massey ferguson 23c timing chain adjuster,when the chain wears the piston/pawl pushes out further,it is made in india,good idea but when the chain wears to excess the plunger will fall out possible locking the clutch crownwheel not good!

thats the same way one on a trials bike works the chain is tight on top the slack wuld be at bottom
