on a serious note this clutch needs to be something special as the readspeed 6 plate internal is capable of coping with 45bhp and is only £300
even at 300 tidds it would take a firm hand to pull it out of my grip

i bought one, the money fell out of my hand as the springs were so heavy in my 4 plate that still slipped. its a case that if it keeps slipping then you have to get one.

the reality of the slipping was at peak power at 7500rpm on a motorway or A road it would start to slip and spin up and over heat. i could handle a bit of slip pulling away, quite like it in fact for some reason :?

I had a look at it today, I thought it was brand new I didn't realise until Scott told me that it's been in Steve Wright's group 6 racer for most of the season. Looks every bit as good as the LTH one (which is 7 plate and £70 more). I believe that a certain journalist has had a play with it so a report should soon be appearing in a certain magazine soon (alledgedly).

Yes you can pay £500+ for a clutch but it will be a quality product and you have to pay for the designers ideas and testing,
and like Cezeta said if your standard clutch slips you have to bite the bullet and spend

I've been following the progress of the more recent clutch designs as I need to find a solution to a left hand injury and fatigue. It may be a sledgehammer to crack a nut in some cases on my TS1 but it's not always about how much bhp it can handle, it's also, and more importantly about feel and how it works, The more expensive clutches are a more refined design rather than working within the basic confines of a standard type crownwheel, giving smoother, lighter and a more modern feel to the clutch and enabling smoother gearchange whether moving at speed or sitting in traffic such as can be experienced by riders of more modern motorcycles. The small batch machining and design costs are why these things aren't cheap, a Foxhat spider alone is £150, add to that an MB lightened crownwheel, SLJ bronze bush, Winco pressure plate, surflex top plate and then your clutch plates and it all adds up. It's the price of quality..........if it fits easily and does the job as expected, then happy days, if not, then it's s**t and a waste of money.

Any pics of the AF one?

Clutch Kit Complete, 5 Plate Soft Feel 46T
[3C502a]
Low stock levels
£146.76p Qty

"The new soft feel clutch has been developed more ease of use, after listening to our customers saying our high power race clutches can be a bit firm for some people.
The new red friction plates were developed by CLW and Performance Tuning, they still allow a great amount of grip on the plates, but they need less pressure on them before slipping, which in turn allowed us to develope, match and produce a softer spring.
The five plate kit has been tested up to 23bhp, and is recommended for standard Mugello, Imola, Monza, TS1 kits etc straight out the box. If your output is higher, or your kit tuned, you may want to consider the higher spec kits.
The kit consits of five friction plates, four steel plates, five CLW competition springs, clutch half nut, and an Imola deep rear sprocket.
Sourced from Italy, quality excellent.

Its not a bag of bits in a box that you have to put together and bend and file and hammer it to get it to fit, then use a packing plate, then alter the exhaust mounting etc etc
It comes all assembled and ready to fit, slot it over the cluster and tighten the nut up and thats it.
There is not as much travel on the lever as a conventional 6 plate and feels pretty light, obviously not as light as an LI150 but its certainly nowhere near as heavy as a 4 plate with strong springs.

So is the AF clutch a similar affair to the LTH clutch, i.e a mororcycle conversion?

Any pics?
