Whatever the reasoning behind the belief that IWIS is the best, you will find no documented justification. For example. Type into your search engine something like:

strength comparisons of 3/8" duplex chain

The reason that there is no 'best chain' is because the construction is fundamentally the same from identical materials, that is steel for the links that can be stamped out, steel pins that can be pressed in with subsequent riveting & steel bushes that can be fitted, rotate freely & conform to size parameters. The main use of 3/8" duplex chain is in industrial power transmission. It is not any different to car engine cam chains either.

For nearly 50 years I have 'procured' chain, often via a friendly storeman wherever I've worked. Nowadays, if I have to, my mate got me Renold by the pack, usually 25 feet, though Cross+Morse, IWIS & Regina are all as good. Try buying a specific manufacturer 'half link' or 'one & a half link' & you'll be lucky, though I've never known them fail in terms of quality.

What I can tell you is the chain to avoid, though it's still being sold by your friendly 'Lambretta Specialists'. You probably know it by name already. Rolon.

Once I loaned one of my various chain sets to a highly respected tuner @ a race meeting to enable a change of gearing. End of race meeting came & we agreed 'no need to retrieve my chain, give me it back when you can'

The bed wetting tw@t gave me back a Rolon, brand new, which looked fine as the 'reputation' had not yet reached my ears, but he would have known, having an account with AF Rayspeed. So typical of how these b@st@rds operate.....
