Hi all, what are the symptoms of a worn cruciform in a Vespa gearbox?

Is it an Early gearbox fitted??
Jumping outta gear, 2nd n 3rd mostly??

For a well used or tuned motor it's worth converting to EFL. They are much more robust. But you need layshaft, gears, cruciform , selector shaft and selector box (or change the inners)
Failing that buy the best cruciform you can and beware of the cheaper ones. If you hunt around you can still find genuine piaggio

You can buy better quality (as gaz mentioned) dogleg type cruciforms (BGM) which are harder, Check your selector box too..
The wheel arm and pin which hold the cable disc in gear wear which allows the disc to move thus jump out of gear and the selector arm inside the selector box wear to. I've had all of these wear and even the cable disc separate!!
