Mb rear bearings

Having to change the rear bearing after 1000 miles did a 70 mile trip yesterday and noticed a bit of movement from the rear thought it was tyre pressure but on checking to mutch play for my liking ImageImage

Is this the rear hub bearing or the gearbox bearings?

rear hub bearing the middle part has give way i had about 5mm play top to bottom

thats a little bit annoying, you wouldnt expect it to fail so quickly, i presume box was shimmed correctly and filled with oil, you would expect that to be a quality bearing that would last a long time, have you contacted mb ?

Yes shimmed correctly oil in I bought it off another dealer Christmas time it just started on this ride was doing a 30 mile stint on a1 as I say thought tyre pressure but when I got home got hold of wheel and didn't like the amount of play so stripped it thinking endplate nuts but all was ok apart from the bearing I have one in my rb with 2000 miles on that's ok anyway new parts on way

i cant remember changing a rear hub bearing in the 70's and did 100 miles a night let alone weekend trips to the coast and was nearly always two up!

Same here done 100's miles back in the 80's and never needed to change one now it seems I need to change one on every scoot I ever get.Maybe it was because I was used to just sliding around and thought that was the norm back then.

I wouldn't mind the original one I tapped out is still in good condition but if you put it all back together and find it isn't you'd well pissed
