Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rob. Great to see you back on the forum again and that you've got that bloody nightmare of a scooter sorted out at last. Try Peter James Insurance. Includes EU cover and not expensive.

Timbo, I only need the European Breakdown cover. According to the bloke on the phone they don't offer it on its own.

Hello Dapper.
Cheers!
No good for Northern Ireland residents. Looks like you need to be insured through them as well for European Cover. I just need the European Breakdown cover.

Thanks though.

Try ADAC. It's German but they cover euro wide for pennies.

As with all such policies, read the small print (that might be hard if it is in German), as many policies will not recover your bike to home if the cost of recovery exceeds the market value of the machine. They will just scrap the machine, and pay you the market value.

Furthermore, it is not worth saying "but it has an agreed value with my insurer of £8000", because the recovery insurers will only be interested in the market value, and that might be the market value in the country where it broke down (where 50 year old shopping bikes are not cherished).

On all policies, buyer beware.
