which rear shock
with all the comments on r1 shocks snapping, what is best? r1, bgm, hagon, or is it just personal choice. Anyone used the chiselspeed one

The Chiselspeed one is the same as the Lambretta Innovation and Rich Presley one (where it's cheaper
) I fitted one recently after the R1 snapping and the BGM leaking issues, and I'm pleased with it. Comparable to the R1, it's made by UK company Protech, who made the Taffspeed shock, it has great adjustment and a thick rod, also with a 2 or 3 year warranty.

Yeah, I don't understand that. When I got mine it was on a really soft setting and needed adjusting to firm it up a bit, and I'm 12 stone, I think it must be 175lbs

I've got Chiselspeed one on the RB,a Taffy one on the dead cutdown and an R1 converted on the chop.
Both the Chis and the Tafy one are good, but find the R1 a bit on the stiff side,I wonder if that's why the keep snapping as there doesn't seem to be much give in it even with an 180lb spring?

I do not try to explain why I ride Lambrettas,
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary,
For those who don't, no explantion is possible.

you need to check what setting the rebound and compression dials a re set at on there softest setting and 180 spring it will feel like a standard shock if there set to max then it will feel very solid im using caged roller bearings in mine and have done about 250 miles it feels ok and theres no sign of wear on anything check your fixing nuts arnt to tight or the bushes arnt binding loads of coppa slip on everything but the threadsred wrote:I've got Chiselspeed one on the RB,a Taffy one on the dead cutdown and an R1 converted on the chop.

275 doesn't sound right then. I've a 200lb on my R1, on the softer settings, and I wouldn't want a harder spring than that.soulsurfer wrote:Yeah, I don't understand that. Then again if you remove the damping and rebound effects you may be surprised, it is after all designed for a totally different type of mounting on an R1storkfoot wrote:275 doesn't sound right then.
