my first ever scooter build. cagiva mito 125 engine

well I rode it to Newquay rally and back, no issues, ran fine, just needs revving, thats something I had to get used to

the night I got home I started tearing it apart, top end off, set it up properly with base gaskets for exhaust at BDC, then checked squish, still large, so in the lathe with the head :)

now got port timing correct, and 0.9 squish, most say to go as low as 0.7 or 0.8 but I wanted to be safe, still huge change from the 2.1 odd that it had previously

have realised that I got the gearing a smidge out as I used the workshop manual that quoted 14/43 for stock bike, I worked from this to my tyre size etc, but then learnt that nearly all mitos are changed to 14/39 on the road, I have new front sprocket coming that will correct that

then noticed that out on the road I was hitting 12k rpm in 6th but only 75mph on the GPS, thats way off, so concluded that I have some clutch slip, thats all stripped at the moment, all well within tolerance but I remember making fatal mistake and using car oil DOH!! slippy slippy

put it in the show at Newquay, had good reactions from most people, but a lot assumed it as a paid for pro build and I was called a liar to my face by one "person" when I said that I scratch built it in my garage, oh well, he looked like he caught the bus there anyway so his opinion is of little interest to me LOL

its going to continue evolving, few small tweaks and plans for it.
heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it does fail, hit them with it!!!

Nothing beats road use to iron out all them gremlins, you should have pointed the bus boy in the direction of this forum cheeky cvnt ! I once overheard two tvats inspecting my scooter on a rally and being dismayed as it was dirty and had numerous signs of been ridden lol I nearly knocked his pork pie hat off ;-)

cheers not sure its worth travelling to see LOL

Im needing to make another trip to see Gary sometime, new pipe and air filter on it, sounds great but probably ruined the power LOL, just need to save up the £180 ish quid it costs me to get it there and setup

yesterday it was at a local town bike show, what was likely to be a small affair got very quickly onto a whole new level, 1000+ bikes hit the local quay and front, great day

anyway mine was only scooter I saw, there was no class for scooters, but there was a learner legal class, it happened to be the only learner legal bike there also LOL, so I got the prize by default, YAY trophy is a trophy I dont care :)
heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it does fail, hit them with it!!!

One last trip to dyno planned. Waiting on the v5 to come back with 125cc engine info on it then ive decided to move it on. Need money to build something else. Will sell as unfinished project to stop the nitpicking brigade lol

Next build has to have more power and not rev so sodding high. My mechanical sympathy really cant quite handle it lol
heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it does fail, hit them with it!!!

Im hoping it makes at least £2500 (once I factor in 2 dyno trips and van hire etc it now stands me about about £1500) or Im going to struggle to build the next toy, will do my normal and probably suffer for it, like normal. £1 start no reserve on Ebay

last time at the dyno the operator tried buying it off me, so maybe I will come home with empty van this time

my location is always a downer on prices, the main market appears to be midlands and upwards, nobody wants to travel down to the arse of the country. last 4 bikes trikes and scooter I sold all went bottom dollar, the trike and 2 chops both been sold since by new owners and they both made huge profit LOL.

Location shouldn't affect the price too much - there's specialist motorcycle couriers that will deliver the length and breadth of the UK for not a great deal.
Did you have to do that?

The problem with ebay is it can get lost, so the heading and good quality pictures are critical. i also prefer my items to end about 9pm on a sunday/monday night. I also agree about couriers, there are plenty on ebay and generally the going rate is £100 so i would get in touch with a couple and get quotes say to London, Birmingham, Leeds and Glasgow. I would also advise that bidders have at least some sort of feedback score, but to be honest ebay is fcking expensive now so its best to try and sell it privately but use ebay as a an advertising tool, if you know what i mean.
