Purpose of electric start safety interlock

Ah ha..makes perfect sense..thanks for explaining it, after years working on scooters I've not paid this little bugger any attention at all, until a mate came round with intermittent electric start problems, I traced the circuitry back to this PRD unit and simply wondered what it was.

The fault turned out to be a flaky ignition switch, the contacts for the electric start circuit needed cleaning up and..voila ..a working electric Start ..every time..

If it aint broke.........tinker with it.....
