As an outsider looking in, and I've been looking in for a while, This looks like jealousy showing its ugly head. Darrel comes across as a decent bloke who not only knows his stuff, he puts his knowledge into practice and seems to get outstanding results. On the other hand the people having a sly dig at him including some admin on this forum come across as not knowing their arses from their elbows.
I visit this forum because there are a few "dealers" who participate in topics and I value their opinions, however far too many times "dealers" get ridiculed by other forum members and even by the people who are apparently running this forum, yet basic forum members can post their small ads, some of which are crazy, with out any fear due to the forum admin restricting replies to small ads.

I was happy to view this forum as a guest but the posts in this topic have prompted me to register so that I could air my view, call me a cynic. maybe that's the intent of the admin here, act like twats to get a response and there by increase the forum membership!

If they both had a head-2-head and had to tune, build and ride their own machines for a BSSO series I think Tony would actually have the edge there Oz. Tony might work with Charlie to get the best out of his machine, but no one else rides it for him ;)

Why not take your Vespa TS1 to a track day or sprint meet and see how it stands up
What has riding ability got to do with anything???? :?
Nice that the PTS1E gets another mention. 8-) In answer to your question it wouldn't stand up to good. It's built to get me 7 or 8 hundred miles in a weekend, so I can get pissed with my mates and discuss what we've read on forums. If I was racing, I would build a racer, if I was sprinting, I would build a sprinter. Im a rally going scooterist, so guess what I built it for?

gadgetman wrote:I'm sure you are correct Joespeed but still producing your own fugdeable dyno printouts for engines you have tuned yourself and putting dozens of them on forums is a bit like a hotelier putting fantastic reviews of his own hotel on Trip Advisor, or a school kid writing his own end of term report. With some of the power outputs being so high when comparing the bikes with others that are as quick or even quicker on the road but have dyno figures much lower its hard to understand how that can be. Can there be such a huge difference between the readouts of different dynos?
Again I must stress that this is not aimed at anyone on this forum in particular but just trying to understand how relevant dyno figures are
If we look back to page 9, you can see that this old thread was kicked back into life after Gadgetman made the above post.

I actually defended Darrells work by making this post in response:

".........Darrell seems to specialise in what his customers want.....high power motors. Most graphs so far spread from 5250rpm - 8250/9000rpm. And the tunes he gives are full of torque AND bhp...not just one or the other. He combines that with correct gearing for the given application, and results are achieved.

I get what gadgetman is saying, and have seen examples of it also.........but not in this thread/post/graph.

Darrel has suffered in some ways, as his knowledge of tuning outweighed his knowledge of air cooled Lambrettas briefly, hence two holed pistons at his first race meet on the big motor, but since then his motor/rider combo is proving the graphs are not just hype."

It was a post to compliment Darrells work, and assure Gadgetman that there was substance behind Darrells graphs.

Where's the fire people?

That post looks very much like a "banker" so you could at some point put your puppy dog eyes on and plead innocence!

It just doesn't wash I'm afraid.

Just so I clear, which comment/post of mine is the problem? Maybe I can clarify it for you as it is clearly upsetting you? :?
