Anyone else had problems with the new BGM engine mounts?
I fitted a pair to my GP while I was giving it a rebuild, I tried to fit the engine back in the frame today and its impossible. :x
The tubes (that the engine bolt goes through) that are molded into the rubber, stick too far inwards towards each other,so the space between the engine mounts is less than the width of the frame.
The only way i'm going to be able to get the engine in is to take a hacksaw to the engine mount tubes or fit some other engine mounts. When you look at the engine mounts from the outside you can see the tubes in the middle are kind of sunken in.
I am so f@@king tired of paying extra for what should be better quality parts only to find they don't fit :x

If a frame has been power coated and not cleaned up in the area where the cones sit this can cause this problem, if yours is paint free, why not just heat up the casing mount area and using mount tool draw them back out slightly until you have the correct distance.

Yes matey, the inner tube appears to be around 1.5 mm further in towards the frame due to the way it's moulded.

Yes but why when paying more for supposed better quality kit do we continually have to bodge it to make it fit or do what it's supposed to. Drawing it out slightly from the casing sounds a bit dodgy to me as you would reduce the contact area between the mount and the engine casing. In would reduce the length by file or dremmel.

Mine are more like 3-4mm ,so no chance of getting the engine in.
I thought about drawing the mounts out a bit but didn't fancy the idea.
I just had a look at a new pair of indian mounts I was originally going to fit and they look fine :x

Too be honest im getting a bit pi55ed off with reading and hearing about people spending good money on Crap.
I brought parts from the Far East Ebay and even tradional scooter shops that have been around since the late 60s.
And its all junk.Dont any off these companies have quality control.

Just recently ive had problems with a Lam Clutch basket/Vespa Left hand side Pipe/Lam kickstart shaft./Lam light switches/Brake shoes/Sprint headlamp rims.

All absolute Junk.

Any ideas.3 of the above items were brought from UK specialist companies in the UK at top price.

Living in Spain you really need to think ahead in regard to ordering bits and it drives you mad when stuff doesnt fit.

that's the way of the World I'm afraid- people will sell stuff at the poorest quality for the most they can get.

Its not thought of as "correct" to name and shame for some reason, so the offenders get away with it time and time again.

Unless someone takes a stand, these people will get away with it.

The lack of quality control I agree with but the lack of R&D is something we will always have to endure. None of the Company's manufacturing Lambretta parts can afford extensive R&D, they just don't sell enough units to warrant it, the resulting hike in the price would have us all in uproar. The best you can hope for is that the part is tested for on the road for as long as possible before being offered for sale. It won't ever be subject to Yamaha/Honda style testing programmes.

That said, it sounds like the mounts have been manufactured out of tollerance and the seller needs to be contacted so that the situation can be remedied.
