Ok guys I recently fitted an old Vespa light to my rally that I have bought the 6led festoon bulbs from sip to work the light
These are very dim and hardly noticeable when applying the brake
Is this cos my system is not battery?
Would I be better with either the three led bulbs as they bigger or the 8 led bulb cos there is more LEDs
Cheers y'all

Contacts all good? Correct voltage/ ac-dc? Facing righy way? The lammy ones are prone to rattle round so are pointing the wrong way iirc

The light unit is brand new the bulbs are brand new.
The contacts are mint
The bulbs are the ones on the sip site and are the recommended ones
I'm just wondering if they need a dc feed to work as brightly as they should or I could have crappy bulbs

Hello

The LEDs should be much brighter on DC for sure. To double check the LED bulbs are ok try sticking one of those square 9V batteries you get in smoke alarms across it.
SR do lots of festoon bulbs of various wattages. You might get a reasonable output by trying one or two of those.

cheers

Sorry bud, Scooter Restorations.
I ended up buying a few various festoons when I was running 6V in a series one, and I managed to get a tail & brake light that were puny, but not totally poo.

I'd try a few wattages. Too low and they'll blow, too high and they will barely glow. Tail is usually around 5W and stop 21W but often there isn't enough power to make that glow. Try around 15W for the brake maybe? You'll probably end up with a few useless bulbs to stamp on.
