I have an SX non-chrome ring headset i want to get turned down so it will fit with a chrome ring. Has anyone had this done and can reccomend someone to do it. Also how much should you expect to pay?

Thanks

why dont you cut it down with a hacksaw or grinder then finish off with a file or a dremmel should be very easy to do

syd the biggest problem for a machinest would be the requirement of a jig in which to hold the headset square in the chuck and also assuming the lathe was big enough in the first place to clear the bar ends ,as said above i would use a joiners marking gauge to scribe a line arround the bottom edge then remove carefully and frequently trial fitting to check the gap as you go

Sounds like a load of agg to me. I really dont want to start mucking about with a hacksaw as seems it will be easy to f**k it up. Think ill take the chrome ring off an be done with it.

Couldn't you go looking for the right headset?

You would stand a very good chance swapping your non chrome ring headset for a chrome ring headset... I would give it a try on some of the forums.
