Finally got my TS1 kit from A/F today, hope to fit a 30mm dellorto on a LTH manifold,

Would like to know if the VHSH flat slide carb is worth the extra money over the standard PHBH carb?

What size Kit with 30mil

Ben told me my 225 shouldn't be run with anything under 34mil open mouth.

I run a 32mil VHSA with foam filter (for now).

What pipe you thinking of using?

I run a 30 vhsh on my ts 230, exellent carb in my opinion.
Whether or not it's worth the extra money i have no idea.

I originally ran a 34 on my TS but changed last year to the 30 VHSH seems a lot more responsive and before i fitted the filter got less spit back
As my Dad used to say "Each to their own lad"

Its a standard 225 with a franspeed pipe and SX200 gearing, hoping to run with a filter if anythings suitable.

John talk to Graham Yates. Sorted his last year PHBH with a powerjet.
I'd save the extra money a VHSA costs and spend it on a powerjet.

Cheers for the replies.

Think you're right Al, I'll go for the PHBH + powerjet, was just a question of aesthetics, but they both look the same with the panel on :)

While we're on the subject, are the standard piston (2 ring ASSO) and reeds OK. Is a reed packer still an advantage?

Top end will be a basic standard kit, so how much money do I need to throw at a suitable crank?

I reckon on a standard TS1, the reeds & piston are fine, as far as the packer plate goes it all depends on the clearance between the frame and inlet manifold, on my innocent GP for some reason I find it difficult to get a decent (3mm) gap, even with an MB manifold and offset frame cones, so I replaced the 5mm packer with a 3mm packer plate and its fine now, it does seem to vary between scoots though. If you`ve not ridden a TS1 before you will enjoy it.

Haven't had any problems recently with the Asso pistons. There have been issues with ring pegs but I think sorted for some time now.
The std reed set up is actually very good. There is an obstruction to the boost port but unless your going for a tuned motor there must be hundreds running this set up quite happily.
