hi got a lighted flywheel for my px it,s one of the ones with two keyways cut in it one for pk and one for px which is the right one to use for a px

Ive just had to take one of these (the all alloy type) off a mates scooter cos the bloody head cowling was near to melting point. Fitted a normal px one and its considerably cooler now. My conclusion is that the fins are way to small.

best way to do it is, point one slot at 12 - one slot at 4 = 4 o'clock px slot is the one pointing to 4, can't go wrong...personal opinion there s**t!!!!
The OE HP flywheels are okay but the pattern ones are utter shite.
Either way that style of fin design doesn't shift enough air for a lardy or even a half decent smally. The later ETS / XL with many extra scooped fins are good but you're not saving any weight and personally I find it a pointless exercise.
Another German tuning upgrade that looked good on paper but fell short in practice.
Not that I'm blaming the Germans but I believe they came up with this first.
Look at the Vespatronic, Parmakit and Falc wheels. The Vespatronic is pretty close to PK, Parmakit close to ETS / XL and Falc somewhere in the middle.
Whilst Lauro is undoubtedly a Genius he designs stuff for a 150 meters sprints and not road usage.

thanks its one of the beedspeed ones had a hp flywheel on it before doesnt matter about cooling as its a 210 with water cooled head
The cooling issue is not a problem with these lightened Beedspeed PK flywheels . I rode 200 miles each way at 6,500 - 7,000rpm (rev counter fitted/ 65-70mph on Garmin satnav) to EuroLambretta on large frame Vespa GL with Quattrini M1XL stopping only to re fuel. Just done same thing 200 mile each way to I.o.W on motorways. No cooling issues

Gadgetman...mates scooter was near boiling point using the beedy pk flywheel and since changing it the scoots running normal now with no excess heat..can only be the flywheel that caused it cos it was the only thing I changed :wtf:
I'm not saying that a standard flywheel doesn't provide more cooling air what I meant is that on a properly set up engine the Beedspeed lightened flywheel provides enough cooling air. If you have a bike that is set up slightly lean or timing slightly advanced or with incorrect squish clearance etc then possibly a small change in the amount of air flowing through the fins on the barrel/head could highlight an existing problem. All this is based on an ally barrel if it's a cast iron barrel ignore all the above.Also it's a fact that the cowl clearance has to be correct for any flywheel to work and not cavitate the air and needs to be adjusted to suit
