Tameni made PM Tuning crank, 107mm rod failure issue....
running a mec 60mm crank in my rapido 230,with the silver rod anyone had a failure with these or is it the copper coloured rods the dodgy ones.

What is it about them that's failing? are they snapping at the small end? is the big end bearing going? I'm assuming that the distortion in the picture occurred post-failure when the rod was pushed through the casing or something,so where is the initial fault manifesting itself?

'Gold/Bronze' style rods, on Tameni made cranks (MEC etc) snapping just below the little end eye hole and wiping our engines......

b@11@x got one in my gt 200 kit mind you been in close to 2000 miles should be ok? 

Now I could not sleep last night thinking should I change the crank or not! I have a run booked for Belgium soon and it is playing on my mind ffs more sleepless nights! whats your thoughts?
silver rodded MECUR with black webs in mine, 7 years no problems. had two AF cranks (one a race crank, one a rebuilt indian with uprated bearing) fail on me , the race crank I put down to high milage, the second went after 46 miles of running in, big end seized solid. both happened at low speed, 40-ish miles an hour, and low revs.

My personal experience with regard to this thread is on the 'gold/bronze' type rods, 107mm length, of recent manufacture by Tameni, for PM Tuning, MEC and others.
It would be fair to say older MEC cranks were OK.....we used them a lot, no problems.
It's the more recent batches which are going tits up, so if you have one that's been in for a while and done thousands of miles I shouldn't worry.

Looks like I need to be in the 'worried camp' - black web's, bronze coloured rod, 107, bought in the last 12 months...No idea if it's a Tameni made crank or not
Any thoughts on a safe power output assuming the worst and I defo have one of these cranks

So are we saying the 110mm conrod on the MEC crank is ok?
