Swapping Std 20mm Delly for Mikuni VM 24

I've got a spare Yamaha DT175 Mikuni VM24 carb and a standard Serveta 200 running AF Clubman, std 20mm Dell'orto and foam filter.
Any advice on trying the Mikuni for a performance gain - worth bothering or asking for trouble?
