ran it on 2nd from top and top clip with 125 main and x13 needle was boggy after 1/4 throttle, changed to x7 needle with 125 main ran a lot cleaner but plug is grey,
last set up was 120 main jet and back to x13 2nd from top ran a lot better but plug was still grey, stuck it in the garage sick of fiddling with throttle cable and springs today, let it chill for a few days then have another go :)

Hi tavespeed. Got a same iron/phbh set-up but with a reed valve conversion. I've 49 PJ and 125 main. AV266/X2 second from bottom. Chop plug shows a brown chocolate plug. A bit rich maybe but no real bogging when warmed up. I'm still running in the whole thing.
Size matters!

Thanks Eden,
I hadn't considered trying a main jet that big but like you say the needle setting could be masking a small main jet issue.

Hi Eden,
Just wanted to say many thanks for your advice re jetting have had a successful run out with the following set up

53 pilot 3 turns out
Av266
X13 second clip position
135 main
60 choke
B9 plug as the b8 was just too hot but may have to go 70 choke or up the pilot as a bitch to start when cold.

go up a bit on the pilot so you have a nice rich spot to sit in when cruising :)

Hi All,

Still chasing the elusive perfect set up

current set up;
Pilot 55 3 turns out
40 slide
Av268
X7 needle 2nd clip
Main jet 134
choke 70
My panel filter
AF 9-5-1 Head
scoot RS with better end can
sx150 gear box 47 x 18 sprockets.

Seem to be very close now, starts first kick warm or cold idle to 1/4 perfect 1/2 to 3/4 possibly too lean, full throttle perfect.

after lots of choke tests all through the rev range I think 1/2 to 3/4 is on the lean side.
so folks I'm thinking a change of taper might help?

any advice on this would be greatly appreciated! :D

Thanks Gerry,
Yes was considering the x13 but not sure if it might make 1/4 to half too rich?

gave up with the phbh, went back to pwk ,with a 110 main,32 pilot, standard needle, top clip, runs nice and clean through all throttle positions, plug showing slightly rich, which i don't mind, going to go to a 15 tooth on the front from a 16,when i get chance, and should be sorted
