A very similar carb is the mikuni TM 28 as fitted to the 1987-89 yam tzr250, the diferences are: it is a 30 dergree down draft carb. has a power jet, no air screw. these carbs are easy to set up

If you do pick one of these up it will almost certainly need a new float needle and a float bowl gasket, a few £

If the emulsion tube and needle need to be replaced look at about £40, but these do tend to be in good condition even on very old carbs

mounting details:
spiggot size is 35 mm od, with a groove for carb rubber 3mm from the end of the spiggot

the part numbers are the yamaha part numbers

mikuni parts: try NRP in manchester.

The TMS slide is used to do away with the main jet and use special Jet Needles instead.

The TM 28 is a very different carb to the TMX series. The TM 28 (even the OEM ones) are Flat Slide Mikunis where the TMX is a modified D slide. The late model TMX (with electronic choke) is a full D slide.
