Ok I know about the A and IT mark but having put a crank in a rebuild I want to check the timing, It is, or rather was an electric start engine and there seems to be a bit of confusion as to the correct timing. So, is the factory setting for a PX200 electric start model 18 degrees or 23 degrees?

Thanks
John

A = 23 deg this was the original 200 setting
IT = 18 deg was the original 125/150 setting

I have ran IT 18 deg on my tuned P2 for years and would suggest with today fuel any P2 should be ran on IT.

Running at IT 18 deg may make it a bit lumpier at low revs but will be far safer at higher revs

It's worth checking with a timing light. I have found the marks on my current stator were at least 2 degrees from those numbers.

I've never had any timing issues with genuine Piaggio parts but I have ran and set bike up on IT mark for years ...pattern parts however are a different thing !

I'd rather rebuilt genuine stators than by one of the many unknown origin pattern parts.

But certainly no harm in strobe checking
