Realistic top speed on 1980 P200e

I have seen specifications for the P200e stating a top speed of 65mph. One even said cruise at 65 top out at 75.

On mine, 45mph is readily available, 50 with a bit of struggle, 55 after a long run on good level and straight road. 65 wants that straight road to have me going down hill.

My P200e has 23000 and change miles shown on the odometer. I weigh about 200 pounds. Here is a picture of the scooter as currently configured. Internals all stock as far as I know.

My suspicion is that the performance I am getting is reasonable, all things considered.

Is it? Or should I consider some tuning?

Is it much different without the screen and box on the back? They wont be helping.

Good question. Need to take them off and see... although my faltering memory says speed was better without them.

Worn rings will cause a drop in power and after 20k miles they would certainly be worn (unless changed previously).

The barrel ports are probably coked up and would benefit from a good clean (along with the exhaust).

carb filter would also be worth cleaning.

I'd suggest 65 mph is more of the top speed but would expect it to cruise comfortably at 60 mph. One lad travels with us and those seem to be the speeds he can do.

i have a bog standard p2 although it does have sip road2 on it does 60mph fine tops out on the motorway around 65mph and that's all it will do.That screen is knocking you back tbh take it off and fit a SULK screen(if you really want a screen) and you should get 60 easy enough.

A healthy standard 200 should be able to crack a genuine 60mph.
My old Rally 200 Femsa is stock apart from sip pipe, drilled filter & 120 mj and It can hit (gps) 68 mph on the flat.

I'm not too good at Maths!!!!but if Bofs wants to get his P2 up to 70mph it will then cost you .....
1mph = £300
1mph = £300
1mph = £300
1mph = £300
1mph = £300
1mph = £300
1mph = £300
1mph = £300
1mph = £300

total= £2700
correct me if i,m wrong,,,sounds expensive but it will be a genuine 70mph because you'll have all the receipts to prove it :oops: :lol:
