in this instance my customer already had a t5 engine which was already kitted up with a malossi 172..
it was brought in for a rebuild as it had broken down with a suspected main seal failure ,upon stripping it was found that the main seal had broken in half and had also spun around enough to destroy the seal
recess .... the casing were old and worn in other respects also and have had quite a few other dodgy repairs done to them over the years !
All the internals were in good order though so it made sense to just transfer them all into new casings for peace of mind . second hand t5 casings are in short supply anyways and even if you get some its a risk !
so,having all the internals plus an exhaust pipe to suit etc , just a new set of casings was the most logical / cost effective way forward :)
