Hi all,
Anyone running a Polini aluminium 210 kit? Just wondered what the performance would be like as a bolt on with a Simonini,or if I would have to buy a cut crank or get my crank modified?
Its either that or getting a HB stage 4 tune on the barrel but at just £100 more for the Polini, im wondering if it would be a better buy?

Hey up Norrie, av put wing mirrors on now, to see how far back ye are!!!! orite stonerosesmod, I have the 210 ali polini on and it's a 220 on a 60mm crank. av had a HB stage 4 and nowhere near as strong as the polini, that's if ye looking for a torquey tourer with economy and not a crazy frog malossi 220 like norries! waist of time bolting any 210 kit on, the difference from matching casings, cut crank and carb inlet are to far apart in performance. my polini 220 standard carb will go up Everest 60mph and not die and 80+ on the flat, as Norrie well knows  ..............

Some good info on scooter centre blogs on Polinis in various states of tune.
Seems even without fancy cranks and case porting significant improvement over a stock PX200.

Other stuff on there, have root. 8-)

Ok cheers for that,I take it its proven to be reliable! I guess the Ali version dissipates heat better than the old cast iron version. Are you just using the standard carb with a bigger main?

Best kit out there imo , I could not break mine at all and would regularly be full throttle on motorway up to the highlands , sitting comfortably at genuine 70mph and has topped 80mph.

it's definitely reliable, never nipped or popped in 5000'ish miles, 120+miles to the tank @ 56/60mph steady on throttle, it can drink it if ye showing off, ali does dissipate better than cast ye right, my setup is - 210 ali polini barrel, re-profiled pinasco head, casings matched, 1.5 packer,JL pipe, pinasco 60mm crank, standard 4th, carb inlet opened, standard 24/24si carb & filter, autolube disconnected and running 3% oil, dyno'd & jetted, idle jet 48/100?, air corrector 140, main jet 128 @ 19bhp 17torque and sure av seen 85mph on the clock, but to quick to stare at a clock....Sean Brady @ Scooterotica tuned & built engine
I had one problem, carbon build up on the bottom ring and groove somehow nipped the ring in, baffled and strange never seen that before. piston was as new, so cleaned it up and alls good 500 mile ago................hope this helps stonerosesmod.........

Gadge, what made you go richer on idle? I'm running 55/160 with Polini intake but find at low revs round town it just cokes the plug (B8)
Starts and ticks over fine. 140 main, BE3 and 160 AC on standard 24mm with Polini intake and SIP 2.
60mm Mazz going in soon so that may change carb settings a bit.

oioi joey, jetting is a per dans dyno, idle 48/100, main stack - 140 Be3 128 winter, 125 summer, but run 128 all year round. no holes in standard filter and 24/24si...and runs a slightly light tan B8 plug, starts from cold most time 2nd kick, 2003 px200 engine, we all know 2 engines are never a like!!!

now norries malossi 220 Pe engine, standard T5 carb setup by him, idle jet, 50/100, main stack, 160, Be2(made by him) 128, T5 air filter no holes, I think that's his setup...of the mark and topend he's quick like and a good tourer on the 60mm crank, faster than me, to be honest! now I've had a polini, i'd have a malossi 220 having rode along side Norrie next!!!
