Hello,

Has anyone got any pics of a PX with a SS90 tank fitted please? Also if anyone has one lying around and don't mind measuring the length,I'd appreciate it.

I can't seem to find any anywhere!

Thanks Shaun

I got these pictures from a manufacturer of repro tanks... they are on a PX frame. He did mention that you need to alter your seat to rear-hinging, something I didn't think of. Hope these help.

Shaun

the one in the pictures is a petrol tank made specially for a px frame I believe

mine is an actual ss90 dummy tank

ive got some photos and a drawing with dims - will scan and email tomorrow.

Basic dimensions are :-

back to front is 340mm long at the back it has a fixing bracket 70mm long

Approx 160mm high at front (highest point)

Approx 160mm wide

I was looking to mount mine on a pk but it looked odd because of the gap - if mounted it direct at front the gap at the seat end was excessive then if I mounted it central with an equal gap at front and back it still looked odd. so on a px ........ who knows what it will look like.

Cheers Gaz, that's really helpful thanks.

The gap between the point of the frame under the seat and the stem is approximately 370mm on a horizontal plane. I'm using a sip style race seat which reduces this by about 20mm so total distance down to 350mm. Sounds like it might be somewhere near.

Ideally I could do with one to offer up, so I'll ask the local lads if anyone has one knocking around I could borrow.

Cheers
Shaun

Thanks for the offer Gaz, at the moment my painter has an unexpected slot on the next two weeks and I'm not prepared! If this changes I'll be in touch.

I've mocked up a template using the measurements you sent and its not looking too bad at the moment, I'm just unsure of the angle between the tank bottom and the front. If the bracket to fasten it to the frame at the from sits inside the toolbox it looks like it might be ok.

I going to go for it but didn't really want to shell out the £80+ on one... :o

Can't believe this was so long ago... :o

Just though I'd share the final result, my tribute to the late MotoGP racer, Marco Simoncelli who died at Sapang on this day 2011.

Thanks to Gaz for the initial help.
