The T5 gear change I have is decidedly wobbly. Essentially, there are 2 tubes, one sat in each other with a washer at one end and a curved interference washer at the other. I suspect that the 2 tubes have not been properly greased over the years and they have worn against each other.

Has anyone any remedy for this that doesn't involve buying new parts and cutting and welding please? :)

At the moment I am thinking of loads of copper grease and maybe an extra washer at the grip end.

PS, yes, the red wire has detached in the indicator switch :!:

I have a headset from a bodge, and the journals where the tube runs are huge. I've had some success with JB weld pasted inside the hole and carefully filed down... tricky to get it just right but seems to work much better. And it doesn't seem to mind the grease once it's hardened.

Thanks for the replies. I have gone with the electrical tape and grease option. Definitely an improvement anyway.
