just cut the frame man. so much stuff to do to get round a simple problem, you've already altered it to put a T5 motor in and will no doubt be altering more to make it rideable in the real world, will a small cut on the frame, unseen with the panel on, be such a big deal? its never going back to standard , so whats the problem? get the grinder out!

Thats the easy option. If you are wanting to keep the value of the frame, try and not cut the frame. If your not bothered then by all means get the grinder out. If you do cut the frame, try and do it in one go and keep the part you cut off so it can be welded back on.
If you fit the dellorto phbh carburettor, cut the manifold and turn it out (away from the frame) you may need to cut a bit of the flywheel side casing for the carb to fit. I don't know how much room you have under the side panel, height wise. PHBH carb might be to big.
