is it using loadsa fuel? is it hard to start? will it only run with the choke out? you can also get the engine running and warm (probly with choke) and drop the engine oil (which will be like p,iss probably) if the engine revs rise, your oil seal is knackered.

cheers for replys
only problem he seems to be having is it looks like its running a bit lean
even tho its main jet is high at122 standard 200 with pm pipe and drilled air filter, and he is getting what he describes as pinking
at higher revs mainly in 4th timing has been checked with timing disc & strobe.

cheers

you can put a bulloon on the breather and rev it. if it inflates its gone.

when it is totally gone it will spray oil/fuel out of the breather

Try going higher on the main jet, also whip flywheel off and check that seal (oil residue weeping and running down behind stator).
Usually with this it will be erratic running and not dropping off the revs .
By the sounds of it i'd go for timing and or main jet, I've ran a 125 before on a stock 200 with a decent expansion.

do the tests but i would agree with Bazman

I always set p2 timing at IT

Go bigger on the jets and come down

Like Baz i`ve had a 2nd o/s standard barrel with a pitone running 125

best of luck

I like the baloon on the breather idea, I have never tried it but I will next time as a quick check :)

The only way to check the seal condition is to do a crankcase pressure test. Although this is American it still explains it better that I could http://www.how-to-diy.org/4s7X1FiXCN2uS ... ngine.html a foot pump with a gauge and a pump adapter for a football works just fine

Seals can take a long time to actually get to the point where it is obvious there is a problem. On a tuned engine this test could make all the differance and explain random heat seizing or lack of power.
