Out riding today and a couple of times the scoot stuck on full revs. first time at a roundabout dipped throttle but no joy first thought is a stuck throttle cable but second time coming up to junction same happened dropped throttle and held clutch in but engine was racing on full revs pulled up and turned off, engine died. Kick started and away we went then 50m later same happened, coasted to a stop and turned off ignition but engine kept going with ignition turned off had to turn fuel off and let it run to a stop screaming its little heart out.

Took air filter off then operated throttle cable to watch carb working as normal.

Going to change complete throttle cable but anyone any ideas if it might be something else.

Cheers Bruce :?

Could be the cable fraying and starting to stick, also the carb can become warped with overtightening of securing bolts which makes the slide stick open.

could be an air leak? or your throttle cable sticking make sure its not been nipped ie when turning your handlebars. for the air leak check your oil seals etc hope you get sorted m8

Sounds very much like an air leak. Check carb bolts are ok also check the cylinder head is tight. Fuel line could be another source, either kinked or a small split.
I would also go round and tighten all the engine bolts, worse case scenario is a cracked engine casing. I would definatley replace spark plug as this will be knackered. Let us know how you get on.
