I had a T5 190 yonks ago, but that used a Suzi TS185 piston. Very fast scooter and a 100% reliable conversion. Standard 24mm carb, big expansion etc. Used to live nr Waltham Abbey and commute to Watford and Reading regularly on the M25 / M4.

Oh it once sheared all the central splines on the rear hub, and another time sheared all the studs away leaving me sitting in the central reservation of the A41 !!! I guess these were simply due to the power and my lack of maintenance ..things to watch out for maybe?

I cannot remember, sorry, it was the early 90's....was the pinasco barrel out then?
Maybe give MB a call, I think they used to do a few of these in the day, and I think it came from them originally. It used to lift the front wheel if you grabbed a handfull when you changed into second

There were 3 conversions that MB used to offer. Suzuki 170, Yamaha 180 and Kawasaki 190.
All were steel linered kits. The 190 needed the casings opening up as the barrel needed a larger spigot.
The Yam was in 2 versions, one with normal spigot and one with larger spigot.

I ran a suzuki 170 for several years. Lovely ride, torquey as anything, never hesitated up hills or 2 up.

We did the great london rideout in 1996 and of my mates I was the only one riding 2 up and I had to keep slowing down to let them catch up.

Had it dynoed at Taffspeeds and it was doing 14hp which isn't a lot but you could pull off in any gear and it would power wheelie easily as my mate Rachel found out when she nearly wrapped my t5 round my car while messing about in the street.

Still got the top end and the old mikeck pipe, I'll get round to rebuilding it one day.

The standard barrel could be used in all the conversions but Mark used to prefer the malossi barrel for doing the 190.
Not sure if he ever used a pinasco cylinder.

I used to run a JB Tuning Suzuki 190 (rebored malossi) with MB Vforce reed block 30mm Delorto, heavily ported cases and JL RH pipe
Used to tip 20BHP on JB’s Dyno... GPS 80+ and rev 10000 rpm+

Took a long time to set up, drank petrol like a muscle car and was rough to ride under 6500 rpm
But when in the power above 6500rpm it was a monster, smooth and very reliable

No practical use without a long range tank and a fuel pump
Great racer but not a good all rounder, if its your only road going scooter it will probably get on your tits if riding with slower scooters or on ride outs.

I`m building a 190 (185 ccm) Yam-Conversion at the moment. The barrel is an standart one and it´s definetelynot a MB one.
Bore is 67 mm (2. Oversize), piston is a DT 175 Wiseco. Engine casings must be opened to 72 mm  .
Going to ride it (hopefully :D ) on an ovalized SI 24 G, 54 mm modified crank and standart exhaust.

Nice to see Ian posting on the Vespa section, wouldn't it be great if MB got more involved with Vespa development and tuning now that they sell SIP and Scooter Center stuff along side their Lambretta stuff ?
