Isn't 1mm a bit low?

I was led to believe you shouldn't go below 1.3mm.

Somebody will come along and correct me soon.

the lower the better, some bike engines cope with .8/.9 mm,but usually on smaller cc,s...
a lot depends on the expansion rates and con rod stretch ,but always get your squish to the min,
1.4 mm on a 72mm bore would be the max imo.
anything over that ,and the squish is not working.

Is there any where where you can get the correct squishes for specific kits? In my case an RB20. Im guessing it doesnt matter where you have the gaskets as long as the squish is correct. Could I do away with my head gasket by adding a thicker base gasket?
