I ordered a standard 200cc Asso piston with three thick rings from but instead I got a same brand piston with two thin rings. The piston is going to be run on a standard engine with 60 mm crank. Are those two ring pistons worth using or should try to get the piston swapped (the shop has no three pistons in stock and is located overseas)?
Thanks!

Surely that was the point of the question Sean - the chap didn't know which was the better of the two...sean brady scooters wrote:

Thanks for answers.
I was after three ring piston because I have Finland's greatest collection of thick piston ring sets and my experiences from two ring piston wasn't that good (albeit it wasn't Asso one), but as the general consensus is that the one I got is good, I'll be happy with that.
The piston has been cut couple of mm's from the inlet side, does someone know if it's originally from Rapido or some other piston ported kit?

I had been given to believe that removing 3mm from the inlet side of the piston gave an improvement in mid range ? have I been misled.
Tell me before I get my hack saw out on my new piston Please.
