can someone please explain dwell
was told to set a mates engine up with 30 degree dwell. what is it?
It's the number of degrees that the points must remain closed to allow the flux to build up to a sufficient level in the HT coil in a battery powered ignition system.
so it dont matter in an electronic system
Correct, it doesn't matter.
Yeah it's quite easy really, wait for it.....................

Or are you talking dwell period? the amount of time/degrees the inlet port is clear of piston? as you stated 30 degrees I suspect that may be what you mean?
