LTH Reed

I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these, mate it up to my knackered (soon to be re-sleeved) rapido 225,new piston and Mikuni TM30.

Fisrstly opinions elsewhere seem good - anyone on here tried one yet?
Anyone know where to get one? LTH seem to be sold out?

I've also seen people saying that the piston needs work to get the most out of it , does it?

If the piston does need work I would like to think the chap whos going to do the re-sleeve (Fahron engineering) will be able to do the work - should a decent 2-stroke tuner know where to run with this?

I really fancy doing this but I have One BIG thing at the back off my mind - by the time ive bought a new piston,paid for a re-sleeve, manifold would I have been better just getting a TS1?

I,ve just done one

LTH reedblock onto Rapido 225,modified the piston and cut new boost port into barrel.

its all still on the bench so I,ll get some piccys posted if that helps.

Hi Dazza

I've recently been having some work done by Broady, and we've tried an LTH Reed manifold. A significant amount of work was required to get the correct reed to sit in, and then some more work to dowel the manifold to the barrel so to avoid any movement as the manifold is made to fit both 150 and 200 variants.

Anyhow, here's a graph of before and after:


The solid lines show the results after fitting the reed, 27bhp and 20lb torque......... nice !

and a couple of shots of the modded manifold:




I have stacks more graphs, which I'm gonna sort out and post in the correct area later this weekend.

That's excellent, I like the nice increase in torque at low rpm's as well as the overall improvement.

By the side of the graph is says RT255, is this a typo or is the CC 255 ? When you say 'correct read' , which ones are you using ?

Which piston did you use Sean? - I think I may have just found someone to carry out the work if I go ahead

Darrell, have you ridden it yet ? just wondering if it makes as much difference to the rideability as they claim?

I think it is an RT CT

Sean when you cut the boost ports into the Rapido did you port through the steel liner into the surrounding alloy, or just into the liner, I wanted to cut mine deeper but was unsure if the integrity of the alloy was up to sealing if I cut too deeply into it...

What are do you think Sean.

On this one i have only cut one central boost, which is angled up to intake manifold area
which is mostly dont forget,all steel.
so it has not gone through to alloy..
even if you cut 3 boosts i still doubt you would go into the alloy anywhere

Thanks, I understand that its an MB Racetour but was referring to the cylinder capacity.
