LI150 gearbox

It depends who you ask. There seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding this particular gearbox. Some say the Spanish LI gearbox is horrible and best avoided. But, others have it that the ratios are exactly the same as the Italian gearbox. I don't know which to believe myself. But I do know for a fact that you can't mix and match Italian and Spanish, because Spanish gears are actually thicker.

Italian is what you want
Spanish has a large jump between 3rd and 4th which is no good

Yeah, but Buzz will tell you that's the Special and not the ordinary LI, which I'm sure he has stated is identical to the Italian gearbox as regards the ratios.

Sorry to appear thick :biggrin: , but couldn't you (or whoever is selling you whichever gearbox) just count the teeth?

i have an italian box & a spanish li 150 engine that going to used as a donor for the 200 engine being built

Sorry, I thought you meant by 'what's the difference' as in ratios.If you mean as in physical difference,quality etc. there will probably be a few different opinions.
Just think youself lucky the ones you have arn't indian :biggrin: .

That's slanderous that is. There's nothing wrong with the API gearbox................... Is there? :D
