I took my mates GP for a ride today and am perplexed as to what his problem might be.
He has been through hell trying to dial in a 30mm roundslide Jl pipe, 225 cylinder of some sort.Static electronic kit.
He just got it back from a specialist racing dynotune dude and there is stacks of torque, then at about 2-4000rpm it takes ages to wind up, then at at about 4-5000rpm it opens up a treat...
i didn't get on the highway but he reckons it feels s**t again and won't pass 90kmh.
The dyno guy said he did everything he could with the carb, but say's it is something else.
any ideas?
cdi?
Timing?
cheers
derek

It could be running weak or rich at mid throttle, try putting the choke on when it is struggling, if it get worse then its too rich and if it improves then its too weak. You could alss try doing a plug chop at the throttle position where the hesitation sets in and see what colour electrode you get.
Thanks Mate,
I got the impression that an expert 2 stroke tuner with access only to the carb spent some time with o2 sensors, etc, making sure the carb was setup as good as it can be (all things considered).
That said, he is looking for problems that aren't the carb jetting.
THAT said, when i get the chance I'll note the settings and start raising needles etc. just in case.

Derek, not sure if you've somebody who can work the stator over for you down there, but I reckon Cainy would do an exchange if you wanted it sorted, I know he's got some stator spares cause he's got a load of spare parts in my spare toilet, so I go looking through them when I'm having a sh1t!
Or, get one of the BGM ones from Mark at Jet200.com, the postage seems better from the US than from Europe!
