At the moment with my classic rapido 225 i am getting 15.3bhp at 6900 rpm
13ft/lb torque at 5290 rpm, measured at Jb's dyno.
I am using a mikuni tm 24mm and a ancillotti clubman, at the end of the year my engine is off to replay scooters for a 62mm stroke crank, they say i should see about 22bhp at 6500 rpm and 20ft/lb torque at 5000 rpm.
Gearing is Li150 and 17/46 but i hope to go up to 18/46.

So 14ft/lb torque from a 250 needs looking at again something is not right.

hi,got my kit off a mate, but if you look at af's web site i think the the 250 only comes in the race version,as for the torque figures,i think my choice of pipe is the culprit, general opinion is the 250 suits a jl3, taffspeed pipe so will eventually swop to a jl3,probaly at a loss of several bhp at the top end ,but a good gain in torque lower down the rev range, cheers all.

am thinking of going rapido 250 and got this info off foxy on another forum - may be of interest

Hi Mick,

My current set up is:
AF 250cc Rapido,
AF 60mm Race crank,
Fully slip-jointed RS 42mm Clubman (just had tailpipe welded and now out of line...DOH !!!)
CamLam 6-plate clutch,
AF electronic ignition with lightened AF flywheel,
32mm TMX Mikuni carb,
Italian GP200 gears with 47 x 21 sprockets. (Approx 11:1 ratio). 5000rpm = 55mph, 7000rpm = 77mph, 7,400rpm = 82/3mph etc.

83mph being the top speed unless a good backwind and decent conditions, (very rare). It will sit at 70-75mph all day and even been clocked at 80mph for 15 miles down the A19 followed by a brand new Tranny van.
This has been the most reliable Lambretta that I have had had even after much motorway abuse. I just don't touch the engine at all, for 2-3 years now.

Hope this helps.

I think the classic one is best for the road... come to think of it I think the classic is the one the racers base their motors on rather than the race version.

Foxy's is a Race 250, they hadn't made the Classic 250 when he got his. Rayspeed's website is rarely updated, they still list Dexter tyres that they haven't had for about 3 years.
I asked Harry B to tune a Rapido 200 barrel for group 4 with around 22 to 24 bhp (more than I'm capable of handling) and gave him a Classic and Race barrell, he chose the Race.

I've got a Rapido 225 classic kit that's been tuned by Ralph Saxelby, the exhaust timing is still less than the race version I think. He felt he had more to work with tuning a classic barrel.
