There are a couple of Jap pistons that fit some need more modifications than others... I think there is a Prox piston in 2mm oversize standard is 68mm so the oversize is 70mm that fits on a 110 rod (Not sure if its an Ape or RD type rod) and I dont think from memory it needs modification... I have one somewhere if you need me to, I will dig it out and check what it is.... Its a leftover piston (new in box) from another engine thats long since gone... The piston I have kept for one of mine, I have had thoughts of fitting it to the Rapido with a reed block...Thats if I dont get a Genuine TS250 piston first...

Cheers Diablo and Sion! The piston for both the dt250 and the yz are the same but I dont know if the pistons changed spec over the years of manufacture so will have to find out which year is needed. Im thinking that with an rd400 rod and that piston I may need to look at port timings and packing plates but will cross that bridge when i get to it!

Have any of you done this conversion or one similar????

wiseco part no 439m07000 or wossner part no 8203da are cheeper and very good
kx 250 1978-86 use with 116 rod and packer im runnind this set up with a centre plug head
pm pipe 35 tmx with pacemaker gears amd 18 47 sprockets and its a lovely engine you need a proper head for the jap piston as the crown is flatter
