I've just stripped an original Italian gp with a 6v system and I got it running before I stripped it and the coil works fine so if you get stuck let me no

Hi Gary, thanks for the offer, I'm not sure that my Motoplat stator will work with a GP coil, I'm trying to find out.

In my experience, the Motoplat coils, & replacements designed specifically for them, will work on the race systems or Serveta set-ups. The ignition system is independent of the supply for lights/battery, so don't get confused by six or 12 volt variations as they have no effect.

Somewhere, I have an Ital CDI that looks completely different to the OEM types, but fits as per original & works well.

In fact, the point I am trying to get to, is that I would suggest you seek out the type with the additional connection to feed a tachometer. Motoplat tachometers are identical to Krober, which you may be aware have an excellent reputation.

The problem will be finding a used one that doesn't start it's scale @ less than about 4000 RPM, but new ones are available via HOI etc.

I hope that information helps........ :x

Is it the electronic one or points one you need?

Oops!

My mistake in presuming that you had an electronic set up.

IMHO that is a good thing as, despite the World & his wife changing to electronic for "reliability" a well set up points system will prove itself more durable & can be easier to fix, should it go wrong......
