How far does crank need to be pulled in when fitting

When fitting the crank i know at least a 0.5mm gap is really needed mag side what about drive side - does it need a gap or should it be pulled flush?

If all fitted & a gap left drive side & mag/flywheel fitted etc would it be safe to pull flush with these in place without effecting seals etc & not taking cylinder off?

Don't understand this question. The crank is pulled through on the drive side until it stops against the bearing. If you don't do this it will move the remainder of the way when the cush drive is tightened and then the crank may foul the oil seal carrier.

Thanks Tractorman....schoolboy error on my part, got a lot on & trying to get a lot done & overlooked things, misbelieveing a 'gap' of around 0.5mm either side of webs should be present but no (on a little research elsewhere too) it should be brought flush to the bearing - no idea why i thought it needed a gap driveside.

I'll start afresh today...if only the were more hours in day.
