Right then, a question for all you tuners out there. The last time I did a barrel (many years ago) using a Jap piston you only used genuine piston kits or a wiseco equivalent. Looking on flea bay I’ve noticed that there are several makes of forged piston, namely Athena, Wossner and even Prox (and prox used to be really crap). Now all the pistons may be made of good quality material etc but how do the rings with these piston kits perform?.
So is anyone using these piston kits and in what state of tune?
You could used to hold both ends of a Suzuki ring and twist one end almost 180 degrees without it breaking
(Can’t believe Prox are doing forged pistons, what’s next, Skoda in F1?)

I have used TKR pistons (now TKRJ) and wouldn´t do it again. Suzuki 185 copy and Yam IT 175 copy. Rings are (were?) not of the wire type and altough I can´t say anything about the cast materials used I say they were very low quality. Monza/Imola/Mugello pistons for instance look superior against them.
