HI
I've just fitted a Dellorto PHBL 25. The throttle cable fits and the carb operates but the cable outer is really tight and pulls the carb to one side slightly, do i need an extra long throttle cable? if so is the outer longer than a standard throttle cable or is it just the inner? Thanks

It depends on the routing of your cable. The standard cable comes into the side of the carb so ther's not a lot of extra to form a loop that woult bring it into the top for the PH carbs.
I'd expect you'd need both inner and outer but they're relatively cheap (<10£)

I've used long inner & outer cables for years going back to the 70's, the last ones being sourced from good bike shops, often extra long intended for a tandem, silky smooth, @ a fraction of the cost that "Lambretta Specialists" charge.
That said, the cable elbows can work well & I have fitted them to the throttle & choke controls on bikes where the owners seem to only know how to spend time & money on bling.....

Not all bicycle shops carry the right cable. Phone around first and ask for a cable for use with a recumbent bike rear gear selector. These are really long. I keep a spair in my tool roll as you can use it anywhere in a pinch.
To cut it down, I find I get the cleanest cut with no fraying when I use a dremel cut off wheel. To stop the cable fraying in future, what I find works well, is I put super clue on it (krazy glue). You dont want the gel type, the very fluid liquid wicks up into the cable and hardens. Obviously wear gloves.
