problem with a hyrdraulic in-board front disk backplate

Hi, I recently tried to install this on my stock in-board disk. The axle would not go through. I have 2 axles on hand, 11.97 and 11.99. My stock backplate diameter is 12.09mm. The vietnamese made hydraulic backplate axle hole is 11.89mm. It is powder coated.

Returning it back to the UK vendor from Canada is a pain, and then I dont know if the vendor who never checked the part when they received them, will do it when they send me a replacement. I dont like it when vendors use the customer as their quality control department.

My tendency is to clean out the powder coating and if that is not it, then drill out larger (its not carrying a load at this spot).

Any one else ever run into this issue and did you open the hole up larger?

Thanks
David

I just fixed a disc back plate like that. It was powder coated and the axle wouldn’t go through the hole nicely.

I used a 12mm reamer from enco tools to clean out the coating.

Tx. Mine was a new back plate from Beedspeed. I had to drill out the hole to 12mm, clean up the threads in the oil nipple, and the speedo drive holder would not fit in without getting the powder coat off. That's the kind of thing I expect if I buy off of eBay, not from a shop.
