Hello,

my first question on this forum:

Got a 150 Li engine and I have a used spare cilinder laying around, would like to bore it and fit a 175 piston. Whats the partnumber for this piston as I've a friend who ownes a Suzuki garage, maybe he can provide me one...

Hi Jurgen.

The common conversion which used a Suzuki piston was from the TS185, (64 mm?) but you would have to check what else is required to utilise one.

The cylinder may need shortening &/or the connecting rod changing.

IMHO it can be a very good modification because the pistons are far superior to the generic Lambretta type & much cheaper from the correct source.

I hope that helps.

Give Harry Barlow a ring at Pro porting, I'm running one in a Mugello 186.

your cylinder head will need re-profiling to match the suzuki piston, i did one of these last year it was a barrel i bought already topped and tailed so it fitted using standard length conrod, i did have to remove about 5mm from the piston skirt on the inlet side, the same conversion can be done without topping and tailing the barrel if you use the tv 116mm conrod , can be a very good conversion when done well, mine went very well,

I have a scribbled note from a few years back that this Suzuki piston will work. I can’t recall who told me though!

I suspect I was told this in the context of the skirt needing cutting and the head reproducing though.

Thanks guys,

I'll have a look at the shop, would like to do the conversion as cheap as possible just becoase I have a spare cilinderhead and cilinder, the bore I can do myself I've got the tools. So if I can keep the standard rod then there is not much work involved.

Regards, Jurgen

I'll get back on this when I've got the parts but will take a while though
