Hi, just wondered , can the sliding dog / gear selector be removed & changed without taking out the layshaft ? I know it can be a bit of a faff to get the balls & spring back in but is it possible ? thanks for any info ;)

I’d say no. But you can fit the dog before it goes back in. Finger on each side to keep the ballbearings in and whap the head on the sliding dog pushing it into place. 😃

Yes it is possible, but it's a real bitch and the air is likely to turn blue! I made a little tool to help keep the balls & spring in position while I slid the sliding dog back onto the layshaft.

Is there any reason that you cant knock the layshaft out,It'll make it a lot easier.
