I'm rebuilding a customers early 90's GP200 and have run across a weird one.

the mag flange has been machined to only accept the NU205 (LI/SX) type bearing. Specifically it is about 3mm shallower than the normal S2/S3 mag flange. When the NU2205 bearing and seal are installed there is no more room for the circlip. Also the seal retaining washer can be heard rattling around between the flange and the bearing. Motor had never been apart before. I compared the mag flange with another Italian one I had on the shelf. Identical part number on both and both stamped Innocenti.

We checked the original crank and bearing that came out of the motor and found that it was installed with a NU205 from the factory (like a GP125 would have been).

I thought that all NON series 1 mag flanges were the same and there was only a spacing washer used to make up the difference between the 2 common bearing types?

I've been doing this for 25 years and I haven't seen this one before.

the stupid spacer ring was in the mag flange and for some reason I didn't catch that until this morning. In my defense it should not have been there in the first place and was living on the wrong side of the wrong bearing. The ring is really stuck in there so I'm not 100% sure how I'll get it out yet but at least I know now it's not some Innocenti or SIL fluke part.
